The deadline to enroll for healthcare through the Marketplace for 2014 is March 31st. If you don’t enroll by the deadline you will not be able to get private health insurance inside the Marketplace until the 2015 enrollment in the fall. Most people must have qualifying health coverage in 2014 or you will pay a penalty of either 1% of your income, or $95 per adult ($47.50 per child), whichever is higher. You may qualify for lower costs based upon your household income.
You’re considered covered if you have Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, any job-based plan, any plan you bought yourself, COBRA, retiree coverage, TRICARE, VA health coverage, or some other kinds of health coverage.
